The installation of my Sunjoy Newton manual awning was pretty easy. I’ve used tools and a level before; the hardest part was finding the studs behind the siding. I installed mine above a patio door, so the header was the easiest to find. The metal aluminum frame is powder-coated white, which goes with the house trim. Not much choice of size or fabric color at my local box-store, but the sale price was right – cheap. The manual crank is a good workout when opening or closing. I’ve bashed my elbow on the wall too many times, however. The support arms are noisy when they move. Mine sounds like an old man creaking out of a chair! The fabric I think is polyester and has already begun to lose its colour. You get what you pay for I guess. Next time I’ll shop around more and not buy a product made in China – my home country.
