We bought a 12’x10’ Chinese made Castlecreek manual retractable awning. It was on sale, so the price was right. Most but not all of the metal frame we were told is aluminum, including the roller bar but it has already started to rust. We had to purchase smaller lag screws to install the awning into the 2”x4” studs. The ones supplied were way too big! The install wasn’t too difficult, but the instructions were useless. The color selection of the polyester fabric was limited to three choices. We picked the green. The UV coating is supposed to add extra protection from the sun. Based on the reviews, though, and our experience, the forest green has faded to a light apple green by the end of the first season. The manual crank works just OK. We had to attach bungee cords to the front corners though so the awning can be open in light breezes – something we should not have to do. Next time, I’ll buy Italian and not this c**p from China!
