We purchased a 13-foot x 8-foot awning for the summer cabin. Watching installation videos made the installation easier than just following the instructions. We had to install a plate though, to secure the mounting brackets, and also purchase lag screws. We tucked it up close to the soffit to protect the fabric when not in use. Even though the material is supposedly UV protected and supposedly water-resistant, fading and water leakage have been an issue. The whole unit is lightweight, and the arms squeaked until I greased them. It opens with a hand crank fairly easy, but closing is a workout. For the price, it does the job but we don’t expect it will work in year 3 and later.
